StoryShares, a nonprofit organization based in Boston, MA is devoted to inspiring reading practice and improving literacy skills among teens and young adults. The nonprofit launched their annual Relevant Reads writing contest and partnered with our team to fulfill digital and web outreach to writers. Unlike most writing contests, those who submit their work to StoryShares had a real opportunity to make a difference. Young readers download stories in the StoryShares library, either themselves or together with their teachers, to improve their literacy skills.


Objective: Our team was hired to reach a highly targeted pool of writers with a contest calling for them to submit unique short stories for cash prizes and the opportunity to have their books published in StoryShares online book library.


Solution: Our team determined the best channel to reach this unique small audience was running Google Ads and fulfilling web marketing outreach on writer’s community blogs and websites.


Results: The contest exceeded the results of any previous annual contest by garnering over 1,600+ submissions of short stories that added significant value to StoryShare’s online book catalog to boost reading materials for young readers who struggle with reading.. T
